Make Your Own Dog Biscuits

Do you want to give your dog's treats that homemade touch? Here's a recipe so that you can make your own!

Making dog biscuits at home is easy, and you'll know exactly what's going into them. This guarantees your dog will have tasty, healthy treats any time of the day.

Most dog biscuit recipes rely on flour as a base, but you can also use a combination of cornmeal and oats for an even healthier base. Try this one to start:

• 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1 tsp baking powder, one egg white, and a couple teaspoons of chicken broth for more flavor.
• Mix your dry ingredients together and in a separate bowl, mix your wet ingredients. Hold the peanut butter for now.
• Mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Then add the peanut butter, folding it into the dough.
• Drop the dough onto a greased cookie sheet like chocolate chip cookies. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Low Calorie Dog Treats
You can buy healthy, low-fat treats for you canine. Always look for products that contain the highest level of digestible products and little or no artificial preservatives. Many of the major pet retailers do carry products touted as low fat doggy treats. Be sure to check the label so that you know what you're buying.

Another alternative, if you're willing to spend a little extra, is to take your canine to a dog bakery and pick up some tasty, healthy treats there. Or, if you want to spend the time, you can obtain recipes for healthy, low calorie treats and make them yourself.

Beef Liver Treat
Beef liver treats are easy to make and can be stored in small baggies in the freezer for convenience.

• Boil a beef liver with a generous dash of garlic powder (not garlic salt) until cooked through.
• Preheat oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Next, place the liver on a cookie sheet and bake until dry.
• Cool and cut into small pieces.

These treats work great in training!

Dangerous Bones
There is some current debate over whether bones are safe or not to give to your dog. Some say that chicken bones are brittle and may splinter and become fatal to your dog. The key is to avoid giving your canine any cooked bones. They become sharp and brittle and will not be safe for your canine to chew on. Never allow your dog to chew on a bone for hours on end and supervise him if he is chewing on a bone.

Healthy Treats
You can give your dog treats and feed him something healthy at the same time. Look for products that are made with wholesome food ingredients (this means no throw away meat by-products or names of things you can't pronounce). Buy products that have little to no artificial preservatives.

And if your dog has any health issues like diabetes, skin conditions, anxiety, or digestive problems there are treats and biscuits specifically designed to help him. Organic dog biscuits and treats that contain vital minerals and vitamins are available that will ensure your dog has everything he needs to be healthy and strong. Look for ingredients like glucosamine, kelp, garlic, brewers yeast and natural proteins, all of which will support your dog's long life and alertness.

Treats
You can give your dog treats and still keep his weight in line. The key is in keeping a balanced diet and watching what you feed him. Check the ingredients of all the treats that you offer him. Dog treats can carry a high calorie content so be careful not to overdo it. Feed him products with a higher protein and fiber content with little or no artificial preservatives. A great alternative for your canine is a simple vegetable treat like cut carrots
